"If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito."

“My name is Samantha Stitt and I am a junior at Central Washington University. I enjoy spending my time at the gym and engaging with my community. Personally, I am most passionate about family, friends, health, fitness, singing, and lifelong learning.

I am a full-time student at Central Washington University while working part-time at the university bookstore. I am majoring in food and nutrition sciences with a specialization in dietetics and a minor in religious studies. Professionally, I am most passionate about leadership, the intersection of nutrition and fitness, and bringing good nutrition to impoverished communities. Currently, I am a member of the Nutrition Science Club and I work closely with Presidents United to Solve Hunger.

Throughout the course of my studies at Central, I have developed focuses on leadership and cultural competency. I have participated in the Experience Leadership Project, Wildcat Leadership Academy, Cross-Cultural Leadership Program, as well as many other programs and events. One career goal of mine is to work in the field of sports nutrition. Another one of my career goals is to work in community nutrition with a focus on poverty.

After I graduate, I plan to obtain an internship in community nutrition. Once I complete my internship, I plan to attend graduate school for my master’s degree with a focus on exercise science. A predominant personal goal in my life is to constantly seek growth in all areas. Specifically, I hope to grow in servant leadership so that I may better serve my community. I am grateful to be a part of the Cross-Cultural Leadership Program which will contribute to my growth as a leader and communicator in an increasingly diverse world.”
